Why Ningaloo?

Located on Australia’s North West Coastline within Australia’s Coral Coast region, you will explore the ocean paradise of Ningaloo and surrounding Cape Range National Park, come and discover ….

Ningaloo Reef has gained an impressive reputation as one of Earth’s last ocean paradises. The reef is 320 km long and is Australia’s largest fringing coral reef and the only large reef positioned very close to the mainland. It can range from 150 metres to 15 kilometres offshore and encompasses a massive 5,000 square kilometres of ocean with 500 species of tropical fish and 220 species of coral in all. Ningaloo Reef is famous for swimming with whale sharks, its superb for snorkelling and diving.

During winter months (perfect weather and time to visit), the reef is part of the migratory routes for manta rays and humpback whales, its home to dolphins and dugongs. On the last 3 days retreating you will have a chance to swim with the Whale sharks.

The beaches of the reef are an important breeding ground of the loggerhead, green and hawksbill turtles. We have been amazed to see a huge variety of wildlife, both marine and terrestrial  The sheltered lagoons have the clearest turquoise water imaginable. Within the Ningaloo Reef Marine Park there are numerous sanctuary zones, totalling 34% of the total area, all with outstanding natural features and attractions.

The snorkelling on offer is phenomenal. Inside the reef it is rarely more than 4 meters deep, perfect for even novice snorkelers. We have discovered some excellent “Un-named” snorkel spots that are accessible only by kayak. Stand up Paddle Boarding in lagoon is highly recommended as it provides a stunning vantage point form which to observe the wildlife.

Ningaloo Reef harbours ideal ‘learn to surf’ beaches with gentle sloping waves in the shallows to larger sets ‘out the back’. These beaches predominantly have white sandy bottoms instead of reef or coral so customers don’t have to worry about falling off.

You will love spending your days discovering the reef adventuring it with snorkelling,  sea kayaks, paddle boarding,  swimming and more ….

You will explore Cape Range National Park with a down to earth experience to soak up the beauty of where this Australian landscape meets the turquoise bays and marine life of the Indian Ocean.

The lesser known side of Ningaloo Reef, Cape Range National Park provides some truly majestic scenery. Boasting an ancient landscape thats been sculpted over the centuries, this park is home to gorges with rocky river beds linking the range to reef. The Range itself is the only uplifted Plateau in the North West Cape and measures an impressive average height of 300mtrs.

Cape Range National Park is also home to a wide variety of fauna and flora that have evolved over thousand of years to inhabit this semi arid landscape. In past trips we have encountered Emu’s, the endangered Rock Wallaby, Red Kangaroos, Echidna’s and more. The Park itself has over 100 different species of birds, a recorded 80 species of reptiles and approximately 630 species of Wildflowers (these generally bloom during winter).

The Park is home to some truly spectacular walking trails such as Charles Knife Canyon, Shot Hole Canyon and Mandu Mandu Gorge Walk. These can find you walking along dry river beds at the bottom of stunning cliffs or winding up to the very peak of the range for impressive views.

Join us for a remote experience by day and enjoy the serenity at night under the stars, in beachside remoteness and bliss!

An adventure you will never forget!

More about our Private Beachside Safari Campsite

This was once the Rangers quarters, hidden away from the Park’s nature attractions. Nothing compares with the serenity of sleeping under the stars and a nature immersion going back to simplicity.  Each night we camp out in spacious, comfortable stand-up tents, (or in a swag under the stars if you feel the desire), all with the extra touches to make you feel nourished, comfortable and safe.

Our base camp will have the luxury of its camper trailer, with all our camping and cooking essentials. It also includes the limited power anything essential you may need, and supports our fridge and camp lights. There is also a dining table undercover in our communal amenities area with shade and wind shelter. You’ll have the pleasure of a solar shower after your day of adventuring, and a well-kept drop toilet being in the National Park for you convenience. There is also a lock up room for guests and fresh water for drinking. These amenities help to make this our home away from home, and added comfort away in the heart of the National Park. We make it comfortable for your arrival and pack down service by our dedicated team of hosts. One thing to remember anything we take into the park we must take back out, leaving only our footprints ..

After a day of exploring, you come back to this hidden location – our sanctuary to enjoy the stillness, stunning sunset each night and a relaxing evening under the stars… And one more important note, we completely off the grid. What a feeling! 5 day to release you from any distractions. There is no mobile phone reception during our time during the Park from Sunday afternoon to Thursday morning.  For our safety and to be contactable in any emergencies only, we have a satellite phone and have contact with our tour operators should you need to receive any messages.

Together with our guests we make this a very homely space with the extra touches, even wake up to a delicious herbal tea and fresh coffee brew all the way from Yahava in  Margaret River!

What our guests say…

Thoroughly enjoyed every minute!! It surpassed my expectations. The private beachside campsite was very comfortable and we all quickly melded as a group. We had so much fun together!! The clarity and brilliant turquoise colour of the water, the abundant fish life on the coral reefs, yoga on the beach at sunset, seeing tortoises pop their heads up in front of you and sting rays rustle through the white sand below when kayaking and of course – the main event – swimming with the whale sharks. An amazing experience I will always treasure. Thank you Kaylie (our host) and Alexa (our yoga teacher) for making this a very special retreat. I came home feeling incredibly relaxed, yet energised.
